Afrika Afeni Mills
Afrika Afeni Mills is a spiritual director, ordained Elder, and assistant pastor. She accompanies individuals and communities in noticing the presence and guidance of God in the midst of everyday life.
Afrika received her spiritual direction training through Kairos University’s Listening People to Life program. Her work is shaped by years of experience as a teacher developer and instructional coach, where she supported educators in growth, reflection, and transformation. That same posture of deep listening and thoughtful inquiry now grounds her work in spiritual direction.
She is the author of Open Windows, Open Minds: Developing Antiracist, Pro-Human Students and the forthcoming Sowing Shalom: Soul-Anchored Practices for Racial Healing and Nurturing the Beloved Community with InterVarsity Press (May 2027). Her TED-Ed Talk, Four Ways to Have Healthy Conversations About Race, has reached over a million views and reflects her commitment to creating spaces where honest, humanizing conversations can take place.
As the founder of Soul Compass, she offers spiritual direction, discernment companionship, and racial healing retreats that invite individuals and communities into deeper awareness, healing, and belonging.
