Sloan Meek

Sloan Meek is a member of the band Meek Squad, which formed through shared rhythms of prayer and friendship at the North Street Neighborhood of Durham, NC- a community that seeks to be centered around residents with disabilities. They have released two albums of original songs rooted in contemplation and Beloved Community- I Am For You: Songs of Prayer and Peace (2020) and Hope (2024). For the past couple of years, they have had the joy of serving as the 'house band' at St. Francis Springs.

Sloan was born in Memphis and raised in North Carolina. He lives with cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, and cortical blindness and has worked to live a life worthy of his nickname, the Meek Man. His qualifications are the ones we know matter most - a faithful friend with a healthy dose of blunt honesty. Happiness is palpable when Sloan is singing, and he is excited to share his gifts. Sloan is a founding resident of North Street Neighborhood where lives with his friend, Wendy. The two of them are deeply invested within the Reality community, and more recently in the Catholic Church.
